Amazon Operations is a great place to work, learn and grow. Through a robust fulfillment network in Singapore, this team spins its behind-the-scenes magic to deliver all that customers need, reliably and safely. As we end the year, let’s take a look at some of their highlights from 2021.
Innovation
Amazon strives to be a company where customers can find and discover virtually anything they want to buy. This ambitious vision meets reality every day thanks to our Associates. Amazon’s culture of innovation inspires everyone to think big and do what’s right for customers. In November, Amazon announced that it will deliver all frozen & chilled products ordered on Amazon Fresh with 100% curbside recyclable frozen water bottles instead of gel packs in Singapore. The island is the first country in Asia to see this packaging innovation that enables customers to minimize waste. At scale, these small enablers go a long way in contributing to Singapore’s sustainability efforts.
Celebration
When you have a dynamic and diverse team, there’s never a dull day at Amazon Operations. Be it Lunar New Year, Diwali, Hari Raya, Halloween or Mother’s Day, Associates came together to celebrate each festival or occasion that was important to them or their colleagues (whilst social distancing of course!). They also participated in regular games, fun quizzes and broke into impromptu dance steps to the tune of their favourite songs on Amazon’s in-house radio station called Amazon Radio.
Delighting customers
And celebrations were not the only time when Associates came together. In the true spirit of partnership, collaboration and team work, they came together to deliver smiles in the busiest shopping periods because they knew that customers relied on them. During the Black Friday & Cyber Monday shopping event this year, the team picked, packed and shipped the highest number of products in a single day from Amazon’s fulfillment centers & delivery station in Singapore!
Safety
Amazon is committed to keeping its people safe. Apart from adopting several safety measures including offering on-site COVID-19 testing, off-site testing at clinics across the island, self swab rapid test kits for all Associates, setting up glass barriers and regular sanitization of its premises, Amazon deployed a ‘Distance Assistant’ across its Operations sites in Singapore. The AI-powered innovation continues to remind Associates to maintain safe distance from each other by providing social distancing feedback in real-time.
Learning
Amazon Operations encourages everyone to learn on-the-job. Thanks to helpful peers and managers, it didn’t matter if someone was starting their career, was new to the industry or switching careers after decades! Hamdan Mohamed Bushrah lost his job after 25 years in the tourism industry. He found himself a home at Amazon’s fulfillment center in Singapore.
I am grateful to my colleagues & managers who help me learn more each day. Today, my Team Lead trusts me to independently perform my role!
2021 has been a challenging year on many fronts but it also brought the team closer to each other. Interested to join this team and work at Amazon Operations in Singapore? Go to www.amazon.com/singaporejobs to learn more.
